PEROJ is a small village in Istria 12 km from Pula and only 2 km from picturesque Fažana. A magnificent view of the Brijuni National Park. It is known for its production of virgin olive oil, one of the best in the world. Surrounded by authentic vegetation, is ideal for those who want to spend a quiet, relaxing holidays.Peroj, with its prehistoric origin was very famous resort at the time of the ancient Romans, known as Praetorium or Casale Petriolo.
After being depopulated by the Black Death in 1561, a period of 1578th to 1657th, Venice settled in Peroj 13Greek Orthodox families from Montenegro.Today's residents of Peroj descendants are exactly those families. The construction of the parish Orthodox Church with all the typical characteristics of Eastern Orthodox churches, completed in 1834. Next to the church is a bell tower built in 1860, and twenty years later the Orthodox chapel.
Today, Peroj is characterized by strong urban growth as a tourist area. A few kilometers from Peroj is a church. Fosca, a small sanctuary that people visit for a long time because of the belief that Foska heal and help people.Outside busy resorts, this is the ideal place to relax, for those who want to spend a quiet, relaxing holidays. But, at the same time, a rich selection of cultural events and entertainment in surroundings enable every generation to find something for her age.
